The Flow:

It all starts with an email to info@ruhneracing.com with a description of what you are looking for in your van build, or even what you THINK you want or need in your van build, it’s okay if your build is still in the concept stage at this point, you don’t even need to know what kind of van you want to purchase. From there we have a chat on the phone to discuss your project a little bit, and if you like what we have to say, we put a consultation on the schedule.
Consultation

You have decided you want to explore further a build by Ruhne Racing and you book a consultation with us. This can be via phone, facetime, Zoom, or in person at our shop. This is where we get to know you and the how, why, where, and what for of your new van journey, you in turn get to know us, more about our build process’, design, engineering, build methods and materials we incorporate into our builds. We discuss all aspects of your build, the pro’s and cons of different layouts, systems, and components, what things and designs work well together, and what doesn’t. As we have always said, we will build you a van with everything you need, and nothing you don’t! The consultation fee is $600. Wow you say, that is a lot of $ for a meeting! What is the value in that? Well, on top of the 1-4 + hr meeting and followup phone calls/ emails you get custom designed for you and only you the next phase of the van journey, the development of and ultimately the Build Proposal for your project (see below)
Proposal Development

We have had the consultation and laughed, maybe cried (I hope not) and you came away with a good idea about our process, and we came away with a detailed idea of what you require in your new van build. From there we put together a detailed proposal of the van build of your dreams with layout, specs and costs. This includes an initial layout of where everything is going in your van along with a detailed spec list of components to be used, ELS (Electric Life Support) system size and component list, plumbing setup,fresh/ gray/ black tankage, hot H20 showers sinks, ect. Windows, seating and finishes walls, floors, ceiling as well as roof racks, ladders, side steps and so on. Now, there is always a back and forth of things you want changed, added, deleted or moved, and we nail this all down until you look at the final proposal sheet and say ‘that’s it!’
Contract & Build Scheduling

Once the build is agreed upon, the proposal becomes the Plan Sheet, the contract is sent to you along with the deposit invoice. We require a 50% deposit which secures your spot in our build queue as well as allowing us to start ordering parts, materials and components as well as starting to fabricate parts of your build to minimize the build time once we start your build. When your deposit is received your van drop off date is locked in and when that day arrives we start the build and send updates to you along the way.
Van Purchase Consultation

You know you want to buy a van and have it converted, but what van do you buy and from whom? We can help. Take advantage of our experience in speccing vans with the right options for you. We often get involved with customers before they even purchase a van to use our extensive knowledge of what platform works best for its intended usage and we can put you in touch with one of our network of dealers and vehicle sourcing agents to find you the right van for the right price for you.

Builds & Project Descripitons.

THE BUILD
You get your van to us prior to your build start date, and the day you have scheduled on the calendar arrives. We get to building your van, and send along progress reports and photos to keep you in the loop. Pickup at the shop is preferred so we can run you through the systems, but we can also arrange to ship or deliver your van to you.
Stage Build
Don’t know ultimately how you want your van configured? Your timeline or finances will not allow you to have your van built all at once? We offer our Stage Build process, it is all pretty much the same as above, but we plan the build in stages to accommodate whatever the situation may be. We start this process at the consultation stage and carry it all the way through the build process so the foundation is there (structure, wiring, plumbing and so on) so when your van comes back for the next stages we do not need to un-build your van to move forward.
Partial Builds
Anything from building you a bed and installing it, insulating and paneling, flooring, all the way up to a full basic build we consider a partial build, and the process is the same as above so we all are on the same level knowing what is expected of each other.
Small Projects
Aluminess roof rack and ladder, bumpers, nerf bars? CRL window? Method wheels? Owl Van accessories? Fiamma awning?Espar heater? Maxxair fan? Custom roof rack, ladder, nerf bars built in house? This all fits under ‘Small Projects” and we work to fit you in the schedule to take care of the installs and tasks that you want someone else to handle for your van.
